Aberdeenshire anglers enjoy some of the best trout fishing in Scotland.
Our fisheries are mainly stocked with rainbow trout, but you may also find yourself netting blue trout, brown trout and arctic charr, all of which can provide great sport on the fly.
Good water quality and high levels of natural feed help to produce some beautiful, hard fighting fish.
You will hopefully catch plenty of trout from around 1½ to 10 lb in weight ( 0.75 to 4.5 kg ) and if you are lucky, there are also some much larger ones to be caught.
Many of these stillwaters are set in peaceful, scenic locations and they are great places to get away from the stresses of modern day life.

The tackle and tactics that you would normally use for your trout fishing should serve you well in Aberdeenshire too.
Floating fly lines work well in most conditions at all the venues listed and an intermediate line can also prove handy.
Dry fly, spiders, wet fly, nymphs and lures will all produce good sport for you in the right conditions.

You will find lots of information and photos covering individual trout fisheries in "The Lochs" section of the website, so please explore the links provided.
If you would like to try boat fishing or float tubing, you might like to pay me a visit at Haddo Trout Fishery.
I have five boats suitable for two anglers on the loch, float tubes for the more adventurous and I would be very pleased to see you.
