When I first moved back to Aberdeen I remember buying one in Somers. I lost it after quite a few fish. The ones I have now are unused bar one and shall remain that way unless I find a river with no snags what so ever!

Collectable, keep them  :z16

I'd add some feathers down the flanks (the way Ronnie Sutherland used to on his own lures) and fish them  :z12

Still on the lookout for mine. They are in the garage somewhere...

I did have contact details for some of the family but lost them and the last email address I had isn't live any more, I have considered the idea several times as I liked the lures. I was even more tempted when I found a suitable 'wing' substitute - which was the problem with most Sutherland Specials that ended up in the bin... broken plastic 'wings'.

Not only are these good for sea trout but it was my number 1 lure for salmon on the Don and extremely effective

An easy thing to do! I can model them in 3D if required.

Hi Cameron
that is an amazing offer.

Now, the original is a heavy metallic body and then the fins are added after. With a hole down the middle

However I am not trying to recreate the original. If we could create a plastic 'all in one' and then insert a tube down the middle i reccon that it would work. ( if extra weight was required then you could fish one with a weight up the line)

I'm willing to give it a go if you are ?

regards
James

nice - would you like me to send you a real one so that you have have a look, measure etc ?

if so please send me a PM with you addess.

they are rather rare as they have not been produced for years so i will need it back through ;-)

The Brit. Patent number is 793370 but I'm sure it will have expired so we wont be breaking the law  ( patents run out after 20 years)

It’ll be very interesting to see how this works out.
I have a feeling the distinct V in the front vane on the original had a big effect in the action as well,

Sandy
