Lochter Report - Backs to the Wind at Lochter
« on: 01/02/2022 at 11:58 »
Down Lochter way last week there was a vast contrast from mild benign weather to that of storm and tempest. There had been a thought to delay this report, in line with current fashion, but we bravely decided to timeously publish.

On a windy note, it was Sophocles who wrote; “Every wind is fair when you are flying from misfortune.”

Now luckily, misfortune was not in great supply to those who ventured out to cast a fly outwith the stormy days.

Norma Fletcher used a selection of fly’s including shimmer worm and apps bloodworm to have 20 fish for his session.

Mike Skene had a really good mid-week session bringing 17 fish to the net on either white lures or buzzers.

Ernie Mackay fished buzzers and small nymphs for his 13 fish, Ronnie Ewen used cormorants and diawl bachs for his 12 fish and Scott Thornburn had 11 fish on a selection of lures.

Colin McFarlane used the cat’s whisker and nomad lures on an intermediate line for his 10 fish, Gordon Fergus fished mostly the shimmer worm landing 9 fish, Brian Mowatt had 8 fish on nymphs and Bob Rankine had 7 fish on okay dokays and diawl bachs.

Lots of other fishers on the 4-6 mark, which is still encouraging for this time of year.

Keeping on the Greek vein, lets hope that Boreas the northern wind god is kind to us for the week ahead. We could all do with that.

Tight lines,

S.P 1/2/22.
