Heather Fly?
« on: 06/07/2019 at 08:48 »
We are up in the Assynt region again in Sept and wondered if the heather fly was worth giving special attention? If so, can anyone show an example that is not too difficult to tie? Not fished up there as late before. In Aug I used to do well with a little moth pattern as well as a crude heather fly.

I have tied a detached body heather fly with a sledge hog wing in the past.  Used glowbright floss for thighs.

Using some small black chenille and a simple black hackle with same legs as shown below was simpler tie and still effective.

Thank you guys they look like real fish catchers. And thank you Robbie for the pm re your version of the Daddy. All will suite my 'wafting' set up  very well indeed  :z16  Can't wait to get back to the Assynt region.
