You cheeky bugger Sandy!  :z4 :z7

Rocks catch fish. You know it makes sense!

Bloody nice box of floaty things there. I hope to have something similar spread across a few slimline boxes.

That's both the nymph boxes now complete. I'm still debating whether or not to fill the bottom two rows.

My all time favourite and most productive nymph! In my opinion the only nymph you really need in your box.

140 (1) of the little beauties:

It's now well and truly dry fly time. I see the feathers are now live as well Mike, ace! Order on its way once I've figured out what ones I need.

Thanks Mike!  :z16

So I see and I've just read through it all. I never realised there were so many different types, some interesting reading as well.

I know which two I need, one for the tails on my Duns and one for the Spinner.  Order on its way to you.

Liam and Sandy - your boxes are WAAAAAY too neat and tidy. curse you for making me feel guilty... but good on ya for reminding us that the season isn't so far away

I literally threw my fly tying tray and vice and materials into a cardboard box in november, in a frantic clear up the day before a new wooden floor got put down. Had a quick rummage in the box for superglue last week. Caused chaos. Hooks and feathers everywhere...  still, I've got until March to get my stuff together.

56 minutes to go is when I'm likely to remove finger and get tying over my 3rd coffee of the opening day morning.

nice bug Liam

So, my fly box looked like this at the end of last season

and, ready for the start of 2017, it looks like this:

aye, just as messy. While young guns wander the banks searching with pink bugs, i'll be trying to find the right flee in all that chaos i call my fly box :-)

Here's an idea I've been toying with for a while now. It's probably been done before, so I'm not claiming fame to it.

The only downside to the PTN is durability. Whist it's not enough of a con to stop me using them I've often wondered how to change this. I've seen lots of videos and post of perdigon nymphs recently and of course I love my ceramics. This got me thinking why not add a coat of resin to a finished fly.......?

Here's the result:

When wet:

I really like the look. The segmentation is enhanced, it still looks buggy and it's pretty much trout proof. I could change the tails to something more durable as well but I like the PT fibres.

What do you guys think?
