The killing fly from the last few days has been an experimental pattern based on a Standard of a few top notch fisherman.
Dead easy and quick to tie, just how i like them
I added my own little twist and used some rather cool blended dubbing from

So here is my Scruffy Olive Plume Tip Dry.
Hook: Maruto DO4BL size 14-18
Silk: Cinnamon
Tail: Coc de leon (light speckled, i like Rotizo)
Body: Andrews Scruffy Dubbing - Scruffy Buzzer blend
Wing: Grey Dun CDC feathers
Ingredients:
Step 1: Hook into the vice and test the temper, these Marutos are very good and very strong so far
Lay down a short bed of silk.
Step 2: Tie in 4-5 Coc de leon fibres, put a turn of silk under them at the bend to make them kick up
Step 3: Thinly apply the dubbing at the fwd end of the fly
Step 4: Wind dubbing down to tail, any excess dubbing slide up the thread away from the fly.
Step 5: Wind the thread back up the fly as a Rib.
Step 6: Take 4 CDC feathers and tie them in with the tips facing fwd.
Step 7: Pull both sides of the feathers vertical and do a few figure of eight whips to help them stay roughly upright.
Step 8: Move the remaining dubbing up to hook and wind in a figure of eight around the base of the feathers, and finish the head.
Add some more dubbing if you need too.
Step 9: Hold the butts of the feathers upright and cut down to trim them, shape the feathers into the profile of the wing, to get the right proportions.
The finished fly: This will be as effective for smaller olives in a 16 or 18 later in the year, use 3 feathers for a 16 and 2 for an 18 to keep the balance.
