Top of the water tactics have continued to produce the best sport at Haddo this week, with Bibio, Hoppers, Loch Ordie, Sedges, Daddy and Spiders being high on the menu.

Haddo regulars have tempted fish in the usual good numbers and sizes, but first time visitors have also enjoyed plenty of success.

The Seerad Angling Club held their first outing to the loch on Friday and top rods on the day were Andy Cheetham with 12 fish up to 3 lb 8 oz and Brian Mitchell with 11 fish to 4 lb, one of which was his first ever on the fly! Maxine Reid and Steve Akerman both tempted their first fish too, with nice blues of approx 3 lb.

The Railway Inn Fly Fishers from Edinburgh held their first outing to the venue on Saturday and the 10 anglers netted 101 fish. Stan Ure released 20 trout up to 7 lb and had great fun trying out float tubing, Bruce Thomas tempted 19 fish to 7 lb 4 oz, John Lear 14 to 3 lb 8 oz, Dario Szvarc 9 to 3 lb 8 oz, Eric Morgan 9 to 4 lb and Norrie Todd 10 fish to 3 lb 8 oz.

Haddo is holding the September Float Tube Gathering on Sunday the 24th and no boats will be available on the day. Phone 07810 868897 for availability at other times.

Best wishes
Mike
