Allys shrimp
« on: 29/04/2008 at 09:12 »
I have been having a go tying a few of these and apart from a few proportion issues I never leave enough space to tie in wings/hackles all is well until the the golden pheasant neck feather laid flat on top of the squirrel wing. It keeps twisting.

I have tried flatteneing the stem but with little success, does anyone use super glue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try tying it facing forwards 1st then double back over onto itself and tie in normally. Works for me  :z17 :z16

Try crimping the stem with your thumb nail so that the actual feather is about 45degrees to the stem and tie in the stem only, not any of the feather. I've used this method for years and never had a problem.

Hope this helps.
