And i have been on the lures for the brownies...

This one is tied using pheasant 'junk' feathers which are very light and fluffy ( almost like CDC)


You will notice that some are tied with pseudo-hackle for the body which i think will give good shine and movement

There is an American lad called Gunnar Bramar who ties a "pheasant-boo" lure he calls the pheasant bugger... it looks great. The hen has some beautiful barred marabou like feathers too

This was tied with a pair of "waste" feathers from a hen that were 2/3rds fluff along the shaft. I think it actually looks a bit cray-fish like in the water...

when you say hen, do you mean hen pheasant ?

i keep mulling over getting a full hen pheasant skin...

I've been trying to tie in batches to improve my tying... and following advice I heard from Stuart Foxall re: doing a certain stage on all of the flies... e.g. all the tails & bodies... followed by all the wings etc...

It's certainly made me a bit more consistent and as I don't have a fixed tying desk it suits my sporadic time allocation AND as your grannsaid a stitch in time saves 9... it's been a nice little learning booster

a wee 'wooly bugger' variant that i have seen on Insta so thought i would give it a try. It in its turn is very similar to the 'thin mint'

I like the red tags from and back, the slim profile and opal mirage body

Had plans for a couple of trips derailed for various reasons, but intending to take to the the hills tomorrow in the hope of beating the wind.  Took the chance to fill a hole in the box, and the argentine hare dubbing I used for the DHEs gave me the inspiration for a snatcher pattern.

Sorry haven't been on the forum for ages. These look great. I have tied some 'bugger' type flies with pheasant marabou type feathers and the work well and look good in the water

I hope things have been easier on your fish than they have on our little west wales spate river... but the warm temps and low water has seen me (a) mess around with making my own dubbings and (b) focus on the hills & headwaters...



I wasn't very happy with the muntjac experiment in the top 3... much happier to go back to roe on the Sz.16s below... DIY tutti dubbing
