My scruffy fly tying is slowly improving - despite the eyesight  *smiley-grin*

Tied a few on #14s, so I guess the challenge will now be to catch something with them next time I'm on the river  >)

I had forgotten just how much fun it is to simply play at the vice!

The indoor harsh camera flash doesn't do them any favours  *smiley-grin*  but they look buggy in natural light and I'm feeling reasonably confident :z15

Basic inspiration/ideas came from Sandy's Scruffy Olive and his more recent Adapted CDC Spider  :z16

Found a couple of hours to wander the banks this afternoon - and failed to find a fish to cast one to  :X1

Ooh, nice scruffy flee that Mike.

Seems to have been a scratchy, patchy kind of week. I’ve been out every day, and just not seen sustained hatches yet, and so no sustained rises. Might be wrong place, wrong time of course. Fish have come on in typical short bursts when there’s been some kind of flurry of olives, then off again.  Weather has looked decent… I think atmospheric pressure been quite high this week, must check, so I’ll cite that as my excuse du jour.

Only consistent, mostly, thing has been finding fish in the faster broken water at pool heads. Mostly. Except for the ones rising at the tails. But mostly at the heads.

Just a funny day yesterday Iain, plenty of olives coming off all afternoon, hundreds of birds working the surface, just no fish rising ...... they were probably hitting the nymphs  :z8

Conditions felt fishy too, but that's the Don for you  *smiley-grin*  and have managed to find a few pods of rising fish on other days  :z16

Andrew's Scruffy Dubbing by Andrew Ellis, Sandy put me onto it a couple of years ago.

A bit difficult to get at the moment Duncan.
