Small stream fly box
« on: 08/07/2015 at 19:27 »
I thought I'd make a start on my fly box for some small stream assaults I have planned.  I've decided to keep it simple, 8 patterns in a couple of sizes.

My Duo fly, a big buoyant mess of deer hair, CDC and aerowing.

Black foam beetle, good for making a plop as it lands and getting the trout looking up.

PTN, the only nymph I think I'll ever need.

Flashback hares ear, after the PTN this is my other go to.

If all else fails, bait it is!  :z7

A couple more dries to add and a small streamer pattern to be decided and I'm all set.

The lightweight streamers have been added! Tied on a Dohiku size 10 jig with a 3.3ml tungsten bead.

Modelled after some soft plastics I've caught on before.  :z16

Nice fleas Liam, not sure about the worms though.

Interesting choice.

I think you are going to be having fun!

I would add some small dries, something like a 16 Grey Duster or a traditional Iron Blue Dun. I used to see lots of very small non descript greyish flies hatching.

Thanks guys. The other 2 dries will be a small F-Fly (16-18) and a CDC and Elk (14-16).

Dirty Duster Liam, one of the most versatile dry flees you can have (good spider pattern as well btw)

A couple more flies have been added.

First up another nymph, the brassie.  I fancy them as buzzer/bloodworm imitations.

Im struggling  to add another image to this post so will post separately.
