What is the history of "Aberdeen Hooks"? What is the association with Aberdeen? Were they made to use in a specific local situation or manner?

I've often wondered this and have been asked the question a few times too

And back to the question

I once asked that question to a Partridge of Redditch rep and his answer was that the hooks were popular with the long liners both around the grampian coast and also SW scotland/carlise. They were a thin wire, small eyed hook so that they did not burst the "livebait" (Rag and mussels).....I am guessing the name Aberdeen stuck as Aberdeen would have been the biggest fish port in the UK back then.

Anyone know the history of the "Dee Iron" hook? Again, Partdidge have made them in the past, but were not the "inventors". Anyone?
