What's Your Fishing Hat?

Following on from Sandy's "Breaking in a new Hat" post ......

What hats are you all wearing nowadays?

As a youngster, my fishing hats (and non fishing for that matter) were usually woolly hats or full brimmed hats. I moved on to baseball style caps and have worn them for many years, but I've found myself going full circle and am back to wool and brimmers.

I do get attached to a hat, they sort of become old friends, a bit like a fishing vest that has seen a few seasons.

I work with two or three different baseball caps, keep them going until they smell too bad, then stick it in the laundry and switch to a fresh one

I like the Tilley hats, Mike. The hemp soon softens and they fit comfortably. I also frequently wash mine. They are a floppy hat, which in most fishing conditions is fine. However, when the wind is in your face the brim can be blown upwards and I then find myself pushing it down to keep my eyes shaded. I don't know how practical it would be for the makers, but adding some stiffness to the internal structure of the brim to make it behave more like the peak of a baseball cap would be the only improvement I could suggest.

My Go-to Hat is the KUHL cap i got from Chris Barclay a few years ago.
Despite my lack of superstition, it is still the one that instills the most confidence in me, My back up is my original Sage Cap that i have had for around 20 years and has been all over the world with me, it still lives in the bag when i go fishing along with my spare pair of polaroids and the superglue.
