Not sure what year this was but it could be 87,88,89,90
What i do remember is it was the last day of the season and i caught the larger of the 2 fish worming on the Ury with my old 12ft Shakespeare worming rod i hooked it in the Caben pot and after a great tussle we had a right carry on hand tailing it as we had no net or tailer.
The fella i was fishing with that day took a few goes to grab it , Not his fault at all it just tricky getting it without falling in and i was getting a we tad flustered
but we got on to the bank in the end
.
A wee while later we headed up to the KA Bar for a few ales
and decided on who was getting what cut including the bar man.
The other fish was caught by my mate in either the bridge stream or red brig.
I think it was the last time i fished the worm and looking back it is a horrible way to catch a Salmon but back in that days it was either Devons or Worms and before it was banned the shrimp or prawn. and am not sure you could catch a Salmon in the Ury with anything other than a worm .
Any way changed days now for the better with most folk now fishing the fly.
I think it was a tad over 11lb.
