Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Howard & Stuart

Down Lochter way last week they say that June is the gateway to Summer so let’s hope we get a bit more heat. However on the positive side the cold weather has kept the water temperature down, which the fish like, and has kept them feeding fairly avidly throughout the day. This has resulted in some good consistent sport most days.

Brothers M and A McPherson both had 20+ fish mostly using crunchers, diawl bachs and dries. Others on 20+ were Ernie Mackay on small dries, K Lynch on olive and white CDC”s, Dante Dupitas on dries and buzzers and Graeme Duthie on buzzer and hoppers.

Richard Parley did well in his 3 hour session to land 17 fish using CDC’s, Ronnie Ewen had 16 fish on spiders and diawl bachs, Gary Findlay used damsels for his 14 fish, Steve Prince used an assortment of small dries for his 14 fish and D Cooper had 12 fish on buzzers, diawl bachs and CDC’s.

Other returns and flies used were Bart Laurenson on 12 with buzzers and fabs, William Lacey had 12 on the Kate Mclaren fly, Dave Johnston on 11 on buzzers and mop fly. Albert Trail on 11 with Shipmans buzzer and black dry flies, Bill Wood on 10 with buzzer and fabs and Sandy Brown had 9 fish on a selection of small nymphs.

I wonder how many brave people will be ‘casting a cloot’ in the week ahead.
