Lochter Report - Pockets of Solace at Lochter
« on: 19/01/2022 at 12:49 »
Down Lochter way last week there was a saying banded about that ‘January is the month of empty pockets’ and this combined with the inflationary times we are currently living in means there is always the need for some pockets of distraction to try to balance things out, however small.

Our now hardy over-wintered band of loyal customers were rewarded with generally mild weather as well as some eagerly feeding fish to contend with.

It appears that what’s known as our ‘Fred Astaire’ winter stocking policy is paying dividends but we are not intent on making a ‘song and dance’ about it.

A wide variety of methods and flies worked last week with many double figure returns.

Norman Fletcher had over 20 fish mainly using the eggstacy fly as did Gordon Fergus who used a selection of cormorants.

Jim Brown was in the high teens mainly using the apps bloodworm and Albert Trail and Graham White both landed 12 fish on the white bug and damsel lure respectively.

Bill Wood fished mainly green buzzers which got him 11 fish and Alan Paterson was also on this number using his own tied nymphs.

Ten fished seemed to be the lucky number for many with Arthur Wiseman getting his on cormorants, Richard Parley on the mop fly, Arthur Tweedie on the damsel, Rod Palmer on small nymphs, Richard McHattie on buzzers and Kathleen Shepard on buzzers and the cat bug.

Other returns were Graham Naylor with 8 fish on the apps bloodworm, Bill Bain with 8 on lures and both on 7 fish were Eric Dickie on the bloodworm and Fred McCally on buzzers and diawl bachs.

Just a reminder that we are currently open from 8.30am-4.30pm all week. So plenty time for some fishing solace at a peaceful Lochter.

Tight lines,

S.P 19/1/22.
