Lochter Report - Treble Tonic at Lochter
« on: 04/01/2022 at 14:40 »
Down Lochter way, after being fully fortified over the Festive period there was a plentiful supply of eager anglers all craving for the Nirvana of the ‘Treble Tonic’:- that is – fresh air – peace and quiet – and even the odd fish at the end of your line for good measure.

Unusually the weather gods were somewhat kind with positively balmy weather and as a result the fish were feeding freely and many an angler was rewarded with a fine overwintered trout.

Many fishers made it into the high teens with Robert McPherson doing so using cormorants, diawl bachs and buzzers. Steve Corser used a combination of nymphs and okay dokays, Jim Brown used lures and cormorants and Richard Parley stuck to his favourite eggstacy fly.

Paul Ingram fishes an intermediate line with apps bloodworm and small nymph set up and he did well to land 12 fish for his session and also on 12 fish was Ronnie Ewen who mainly used a selection of cormorants.

Many fishers hit the 10 mark like Bill Wood on cormorants, Albert Trail on mops, Barry Morgan on diawl bachs and Alan Paterson on a variety of home tied lures and he had a great fight from a lovely 6lb brown trout.

So all in all a fine start to 2022 with all 3 lochs meantime free of ice. Long may it last!

Tight lines,

S.P 4/1/22.
