Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Howard & Stuart

Down Lochter way the first half of the last week proved to be ideal conditions for a spot of Winter fishing and plenty anglers took the opportunity to do so.

Barry Morgan had a splendid session netting 18 fish on a mixture of flies including squirmy worms, shimmer worms and apps bloodworms.

Albert Trail you could say ‘sparkled’ as he had 14 fish on sparkler flies along with cormorants and mops.

Johnny Thackery had a lucky 13 fish on either diawl bachs or lures, Paul Sinclair used a classic buzzer and diawl bach ‘washing line’ set up and it didn’t disappoint as it got him 10 fish.

Brian Thomson used an intermediate line with a selection of lures, which included the white fritz, white diver and Ali McCoist for his 10 fish.

Jim Gilmore, Bill Wood and Kenny Reid all had 8 fish for their respective sessions with flies varying from cormorants, shimmer worms to diawl bachs and buzzers.

It is good to report that after the weekend’s storm we were fortunate to only lose a couple of small trees from our surrounding mature woodland although our power was off for 4 days.

Happily everything is now back to normal with the Fishery, Restaurant and Activity Centre all up and running.

A reminder that now we are into December that the Fishery opening hours is 0830 to dusk.

Still plenty of time to enjoy some Winter sport as our fish are in tiptop fighting condition.

See you soon down Lochter way.

Tight lines,

S.P 1/12/21
