Lochter Report - It's Hot Hot Hot at Lochter
« on: 20/07/2021 at 14:54 »
Down Lochter way we have been enjoying the day after day of sunshine but you can’t please everyone and the main concern from the fishers was they they ‘couldn’ae get to sleep fer the heat’.

Once again those who adapted to the conditions did rather well. Most anglers were fishing deeper during the bright sunlight days to get to the cooler water and in the evenings as the temperatures dropped they fished at or nearer the top.

We recently stocked all 3 ponds with hard fighting blue trout and many lucky anglers managed to attract them to their flies during the week.

Holiday anglers have abounded in the last week and Kenny Wilson from the Borders did well to land 14 fish, straight lining on a mixture of buzzers which included blue, red and a black zebra striped one.

Colin Rattray from Fife on a hot bright day on the Muckle Troot used a sinking line and stripped back slowly a black and red lure which got him 11 fish including a nice 8lb fish which took him down to his backing before being safely netted.

Chris Whiteford from Yorkshire had an evening session where he changed between using a greenwells glory and an olive dunn on a floating line when the fish were popping up all over the surface and he really enjoyed landing 9 fish.

Closer to home, still plenty of anglers in double figures including Fred Hay on nymphs, Albert Cowie on buzzers, Peter Young on lures and Harry Smith on lures also; to name but a few.

Pleasant weather forecast for the week ahead. Long may it last.

Tight lines,
