Anyone who fished at the Mill of Elrick  would have known Dave Basford.  Hamish would have worked with him at the Torry lab , sad to report Dave passed away yesterday.

Jim,

That is sad news indeed, I too worked with Dave at the marine lab, my thoughts are with Donna his wife.

He was not that old.

I'm really sorry to hear that Jim.

Dave was a good friend, I knew he was unwell, but I hadn't heard.

I'm sorry to read this, Dave was a nice chap.
Although we never worked together, I enjoyed some banter with him over stocking of fish, the decline of the Sea Trout and the dilemmas of fisheries management when I was looking after Pitfour.
Very sad indeed.

I was at the AGM of the Civil service angling club today, it was Dave who started it in Aberdeenshire.
We are going to buy a memorial trophy and have an annual competition to remember him.
