Best book on flytying I’ve ever bought  :z16
Huge fun too. More like building flies than tying them.

Sandy,

Just ordered it. Hopefully have some new fugly patterns to throw into the river when we are on the bank next season. And H, looking at the preview of the book one of the featured flies is the Mickey Finn 😂

Me and your dad were right then 🤔

Looking forward to some off season tying larks.

Which is why I am forever grateful that Dad is not remotely interested in the internet, of I would never hear the end of him always being right....  :X2 :z4

Going to be a fun winter then

This has been my favourite so far, even down to the name.

Swims better than most rapalas .have had some amazing smashes at it, I’ll hook one eventually.  :z7

When I was young and agile my favourite method was using the real minnow off the fly rod. Would catch them with my landing net and killed and kept fresh in moss in a tin. As the years go by I now only fish with the fly as it is a lot easier. Days with the minnin/stick bait/ gadger are over.
However I always left the river as undisturbed as possible. Nowadays I see some fishers fishing Czech nymph style wading all over the pool spoiling it for others.
Fishing with the baits taught you how to stalk and hunt your quarry and in my opinion gave you a great respect for your quarry.
Old Bob.

There is always a woolly bugger or 5 in my box, alongside some more interesting streamers.

I started "Czech Nymphing" heavy "jig hook" streamers on the Don and its been eye opening.
