Epic - White Rod Wrap
« on: 25/06/2020 at 09:38 »
Hi,

I thought it better to start referencing my 590C build in here, :-)

I note that the Epic kit states it comes with white wrapping thread......does anyone know if this thread turns completely translucent when coated with epoxy?

I hope so as a black blank with white wraps....doesn't sound too appealing to me,

Hi Steven

I’m pretty sure the Silk in the Kits is 212 which will go translucent this when it is epoxied. The instructions with the kit are quite specific regarding thinning it for the first coat. Important you follow it closely to get the proper invisible wrap effect.

Sandy,

Great, good stuff, the glass rods all read that they come with 212 silk, however the carbon kit lists white and black thread.  I have ordered some silk just in case.

A lot to learn for me here, just figured out the differences between Silk, Grade A Nylon etc......and also learned about colour preserver and NCP threads.  Its a whole new world!, :-)

ETA on rod arriving, 7th July, woohoo!

Cheers,

Steven
