Lochter Report – Autumn’s best of cheer
« on: September 03, 2019, 14:25:09 PM »
Down Lochter way last week you could tell, especially first thing in the morning, that September had arrived as your hands were the first to feel the coolness and the lush lawns of Lochter weren’t quite so ‘growthy”

It brought to mind the verse:- September days are here with Summers best of weather and Autumn’s best of cheer!

On the fishing front the cooler conditions seemed to jump-start our fish into action especially in the cooler depths of the Muckle Troot loch.  Some fine specimens were both caught and lost with many a tale of disappointment about “the one that got away” told in the bothy later.

Graham Duthie fishing the Muckle Troot had a splendid day landing 20 fish, his biggest being about 7lb on either the WSW or cormorant.

Greg Williams from Stonehaven used a team of diawl bachs to good effect netting 12 fish including a blue of 8lb.

The dynamic duo of Les Harris and Robert Reilly both did equally well netting 10 fish each on buzzers with many of them being above the 5lb mark.

Bill Taylor from Aberdeen fished solely with cormorants and he was rewarded with 9 fish including a brownie of approx. 5lb.

The WSW lure did consistently well during the week with Bill Bain landing 8 fish between 2˝ - 10lb, Walter Senior had 7 fish and Jim Gilmour had 5 fish on it.

Bryan Ross had a very satisfying session using small damsels to secure 6 fish and Paul Ingram also had 6 fish on buzzers and damsels.

With the cooler conditions set to remain for the week ahead, then it should ensure that the fish remain actively feeding during the day and that the good sport continues.
