Loch Insch - David

Loch Insch

Loch Insch has been open 6 weeks now, and going from strength to strength..... the water is still crystal clear and weed free, and well stocked with only Westmill Grade A rainbows and blues from 2-20lb. The 18 aerators are really doing their job and keeping the trout fighting fit and active even in the hot weather.
231 fish between 8 and 20lb have been landed since the open, with the majority coming to dries and nymphs.

The fly life is exceptional, having repopulated surprisingly quickly..... Corixae, sedge, buzzer, olives, midge, pinfry, damsels and dragons, and the fish have switched into these big time.... great to see so many lazy swirls and head and tails all day.
More natural patterns are working way better than lures..... diawl bach, pheasant tail, cruncher, pearly cormorant, Kate McLaren, Invicta, hares ear, damsel, and various dries.

We averaged 34.8 anglers a day for the first month, thank you for the support. It's great to have Insch back to how it was when Jim and Yvonne Mair had it.

I'll do a weekly update from now on.
