Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Howard & Stuart

Down Lochter way last week the prevailing warmer conditions greatly increased the surface activity as the fish were anxious to tuck into tasty batches of flies coming off the water so anglers had plenty of fish to target particularly in the morning and the evening.

Local angler, Bryan Ross certainly took advantage of ideal evening conditions as he landed 17 fish for his 4-hour session all on dry flies.

R Bell on holiday from Dumfries certainly knew what he was doing using a black shipman’s and greenwell CDC as he had 14 fish to the net, one being a lovely 5lb fish which he said gave him a “terrific scrap”.

Jim Gilmour kept faith with his tried and trusted hare’s ear and he was rewarded with 12 fish for his session.

Raymond Sangster did well using klinkhammers and spiders to get 11 fish, J Abel had 10 fish on cormorants and Albert Trail had 9 fish on black crunchers.

With Aberdeenshire forecast to have the best weather in Scotland for the week ahead it will afford further opportunity for some fly floating fun.
