Lochter Report - Swanning About at Lochter
« on: 21/05/2019 at 12:13 »
Down Lochter way last week we had our own version of a Royal birth in that our devoted pair of Crown owned resident swans presented to the Fishery five cygnets, born days previously on the island on the Muckle Troot loch.

Mum and Dad lost no time in lining up their progeny in a military fashion to proceed to the main lochs across the road with Lochter staff keeping an eye on the traffic to allow safe passage and they are now feeding happily for all to see.

On the fishing front, things seem to have been going swimmingly well also.

There were plenty double figure returns over 20 during the week with R. Farrell using white buzzers to gain his success, Steve Prince used the treble combination of buzzers, dry’s and diawl bachs to net his haul and J. Abel used the intriguingly named spam fly for his session.

A. Mackay wrote in the Returns book that he had his ‘best day ever’ with 24 fish on a wide variety of lures, Ronnie Ewen skilfully fished a team of buzzers to bring 18 fish to the net and Mike Pirie used the ever effective WSW lure for 17 fish.

Katie Scowen (aged 9) is obviously a chip off the old block as her dad Neil and her fished an evening session and Kate had 15 fish on an apps bloodworm and Neil had 10, so she’s obviously a quick learner.

Looking through the Returns book:-

Brian Ross had two outings and had 11 and 12 fish respectively on both dry’s and buzzers, Jim Gilmore, Albert Trail and Denny Mackay from Inverness all had 11 fish on either buzzers or dry’s and Gary Frost had 10 fish for an evening session on buzzers and klinkhammers.

There have been a lot of enthusiastic anglers coming out for our evening sessions with some great top of the water action to be had, so why not give it a try this week and join in the fun!

Tight lines,

S.P 12/5/19.
