Lochter Report - The Double Double At Lochter
« on: 05/03/2019 at 14:42 »
With the Nation somewhat cheered up with the great display of running by Laura Muir at the European Indoor Games at Glasgow where she uniquely defended both her titles to do a double double, then at Lochter although we cannot boast that our customers were seen sprinting round the lochs with quite so much verve, we did have a double double of our own.

Bob Spence from Newmachar during his catch and release session had 11 fish for his day with one being 11 ¾ lbs and another 10 ½ lbs all caught on either a mini cats whiskers or a small olive semtex lure.

Our recent re-stocking with fish over 6lb including many over 10lb now seem to be paying dividends for the early season fishers.

Steve Prince had his best session this year with 24 fish to the net taken either on a yellow dancer or lime green buzzers.

L. Mckay and G Mckay had a family day out and both had 14 fish with several in the 8lb region – all taken by the universally renowned ‘various’ fly.

Looking through the returns book, D. Johnston cleaned up with 14 fish on the mop fly, Jim Souter from Forres was diverted many times on the A96 before getting to Lochter but these frustrations were forgotten bringing 11 fish to the net, one being 13lb, all taken on the snatcher fly. Graham Riley had 12 fish on the cats whisker one being about the 7lb mark, Jim Gilmore needed no counselling on how to catch fish as he had 9 for his day on buzzers and cats whiskers and one of his fish was a lovely 8lb specimen. Mike Frost from Aberdeen tempted 11 fish on a black fritz and Bill Whyte had 7 fish on home tied dries. All in all a lot of good sport was had during the week even though temperatures were somewhat cooler.

A reminder for those who have qualified that our Troutmaster Fish Off takes place on Sunday 17th March with a 9.30am start.

Our next Open Competition is the Spring Pairs on Sunday 7th April where there is £500 in prize money to be shared between the top 5 fishing pairs.

Tight lines.
