Does staying in a crap hotel count as camping :?

It's a while since I put a tent peg in, so I have 2 tents not doing any thing, a solo and a high spec mountain tent, at my age I would have problems getting off the ground in the morning, :z8 Derek Roxborough

Anything counts, camping has no limits ....... your call Hamish  :z4

I know what you mean Derek ...... the power of gravity has no mercy at ground level :z4
It keeps you young though, as you quickly learn to crawl again :wink

I’m not knocking it but pitching  the tent beside the car isn’t my idea of camping. TBH if that was the choice I’d rather kip in the car.  I still spend plenty time under canvas hunting trout in the hills, but more often these days I tend to gravitate to the relative comfort of a decent bothy.

A week under a brolly for carp last week...does that count?

Chose sunny Liverpool (well, Sefton, just North of the city) as the destination...stunned at the amount of Police chases I saw! One every night except Wednesday when there were 3.

Ahhhhh, the peace and quiet of camping!

I have camped in way worse conditions than that "hotel". The bonuses of wild camping means no Eastern European Karaoke, no shoe leather fish and chips, being ignored for dessert or over-hearing that the table next to us cannot have warm milk, only cold.
The crap hotel does NOT equal camping!  :z4
Lets see what next year brings!

4am wake up call. It was 3 degrees at that point and I had just crawled out my sleeping bag for a self take photo.

Not from this last trip, but this is "Base Camp" for me these days. The brolly has 60" ribs on each side, giving enough room for a bedcahir width ways. The central pole screws out and instead, it has supports on a rip each side and the front two ribs. Extremely stable in high winds.

The photo shows it with an optional "winter wrap" on and the door rolled up.

I didn’t manage to get any true wild camping in this year, but here’s a couple of photos from last year:

It's a small tent but that was about the only place I could fit it amoungst the peat hag.

Coleman is not the best of kit but it has kept me dry so far.
