Lochter Report - Christmas is Coming

Most anglers accumulate loads of kit. Rods, reels, lures, flies (by the dozen) etc, etc, and whilst many of these become old friends and treasured possessions, they do, like their owners, eventually age and/or need updating.

That is one side of the equation. On the other side their family members, wives and lovers looking for guidance as to what to get dad/uncle/grandpa etc for Christmas. Now is the time to swoop. Ninety days to go, plenty of time to plant the seed and ensure that those tinsel covered parcels will be filled with good stuff no pants, socks or aftershave lotion!

At Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum, anglers have a chance to get among the goodies early as there will be plenty of good and useful prizes in the Autumn Singles Competition due to cast off at 9.30am this Sunday 14th October, late entries still being accepted on 01651 872787.

During the week the fishing has been excellent. The B.T. Anglers were out for the day and Steve Areo with eleven pipped Steve Williams by one. Both were using black cats.

Black lures did well for Jim Moir who netted twenty and Cliff Collie who tempted ten. White also worked well with R. Wilson keeping three and releasing seven on mini cats whiskers, G. Taylor returning eight on standard cats and Kevin Hutcheon thirteen on a white WSW.

Dave Mackay from Kintore had a fabulous day returning no fewer than thirty two including one which tipped the scales at 8lb, all tempted by a black pearl.

There were many anglers getting into double figures; Paul Bruce, eleven, A. Mackay, thirteen, Ken Stewart, fourteen, H. Watt, ten and Pete Green, twenty plus, were just some of those who enjoyed successful days.

H.H. 8/10.
