Lochter Report - Nip in the Air Suits Anglers
« on: August 27, 2018, 14:12:30 PM »
After the long hot summer that suited sun worshipers and ice cream makers, temperatures have dropped to more seasonal levels and there has been sufficient rain to green up the grass.

Unfortunately there has been insufficient to make much difference to our rivers but the Lochs and Fisheries have cooled down from twenty degrees plus to the lower teens. This in turn has suited both fish and fishermen.

At Lochter Fishery in Oldmeldrum, the three lochs are now around fifteen degrees and the trout have become more active.

At the start of the week Charlie McPhee had eight, Peter Young ten, Steve Prince twelve and Alec Harvey eight all on small buzzers and nymphs. As the week progressed damsels and hoppers feature more.

S.Bennet grassed thirteen on a beaded damsel and Bill Brown ten on a black hopper. Blue damsels worked for Dave Thomson who had seven while Lenny Davidson tempted eight with his nomads and Charlie McDonald nine with cormorants.

With the weather becoming more Autumnal, hoppers and daddies will score more especially when their live counter parts emerge from the grass and blow temptingly across the water.
