Lochter Report - Sporting Dilemma
« on: 02/07/2018 at 13:35 »
It has been a bit of a dilemma the past two weeks whether to get out and enjoy the fabulous weather or stay in and watch the World Cup. The situation is, of course, set to become more fraught with the fine weather forecast to carry on, the World Cup getting serious and Wimbledon added to the mix.

The absence of Andy Murray somewhat lessens the attraction of the tennis but we would rather see Andy back at full power than struggling with his fitness.

Anglers at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum have, up to a point, been able to enjoy the best of both worlds. With the TV installed in the fisherman’s bothy they can nip in for a cooling refreshment, keep updated on the football then get back into angling action.

David Pottinger down from Shetland fished deep down damsels catching and releasing twenty-eight and keeping two for his tea. The Blobby Boys were at it again netting over thirty between them using a mix of slowly retrieved blobs and buzzers while Peter Young used a nice combination of blobs and hares ears to account for fifteen, his best tipping the scale at 5lb 15oz before being carefully returned to the water.

The bright sun and warm water made for testing conditions for anglers but bags of five or six were commonplace. Buzzers and small nymphs did best with dries featuring in the returns for evening tickets, still at £10 for post 6pm fishers.

The amazing hot spell is set to continue so anglers will continue to enjoy the splendid mix of footie and fishing!
