recommendations new Vice <£100

folks

thinking of replacing current vice.
Won't spend more than £100 (season tickets to buy etc!) and in reality I want a solid, simple vice; i tie for function, not fun!

Rotary would be highly preferable.
A vice that is quick and stable to set up for wee hooks is essential.
I tie 80% of my flees in small sizes - 20, 18, 16, 14 sizes, and almost never bigger than a 10.

Are folks still happy with the Snowbee flymate - got thumbs up here a while back.

any recommendations welcome!

It's the satisfaction and enjoyment you get from using quality gear (like rods and reels), you spend a lot of time tying so cost wise it's not that expensive.

Atlas Anvil. Mine is now hitting 20 years old and its still absolutely solid.

One night in watching TV will pay for the slightly "over budget" issue.

folks

thanks for the ideas - I had a long look at various vices  (fly tying vices only, ahem! on the internet last night and this morning .

I will go with the Scottie - I really like the simplicity and the spring lever action (I have that on my current vice), and it looks just ideal for my preferences. Plus, as I am receiving this as a gift I have to stick to the agreed budget.

Regals and Anvils are great,  and I do subscribe to the "buy the best you can afford" notion, but for tying, for me, simple is perfect (and as I have not tied a single flee since September...  )
