Lochter Report - Prince's Right Royal Show

Lochter regular Steve Prince was model of consistency when he won the local heat of the Troutmasters competition at the Oldmeldrum venue on Sunday.

A trout on the last peg, just before the final whistle sounded, ensured that Steve pipped the experienced Andrew Barrowman to the post.

He stuck to his favourite buzzer/nymph set up and caught at virtually every peg and now will be entitled to travel to Draycote Reservoir near Rugby to compete in the National Final.

Previous winner Jasmine McPhee won the Junior Troutmasters and will travel South for the Junior Final. Good luck to both Jasmine & Steve.

Earlier in the week there were some excellent days fishing and some quality bags to record.

Top scoring was Jonathan Perrit who kept three and returned twenty two on the chewing gum fly. G.Gibson also kept three for the pot and put back ten using an orange fritz. The British Telecoms Anglers had another good day netting fifty one between the five of them.

J. Campbell top scored with fifteen, with cats and WSW’s being the flies of choice.

Creeping into double figures for his day was Dod Stewart with eleven on a WSW while Mike Frost almost made it with nine on a bunny leech.

Anglers are reminded that the Spring Singles event is scheduled for Sunday 2nd April. Entry is £20 and includes lunch and plenty of prizes to be won.
