Lochter Report - Almost Time for Burns Pairs
« on: 09/01/2017 at 14:27 »
Over the next few weeks poor defenceless haggis’ will be stabbed to death and eaten by voracious hoards of tartan clad humans.  At Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum this procedure will be followed when on Sunday the 29th of January a Haggis will be duly addressed, dispatched and consumed by hungry fishers competing in the Rabbie Burns Pairs ; traditionally the first competition of the year and always well supported by anglers anxious to get their new season started. Over the past week conditions have varied from bitter cold to being mild enough to see flies and midges dancing over the water.
Doug Mair had a fine start to 2017 with ten nice fish, all tempted by a mix of Diawl Bachs and UV Nymphs. Neil Summers also scored well catching and releasing nine using Buzzers and Small Nymphs. Steve Prince had a beauty that weighed in at just over 6 lbs in his bag of five on Bloodworms. Okay Dokey’s were the choice of Davy Coull and six fish agreed with his choice.
The forecast is for a blast of January wind possibly accompanied by snow to descend on us towards the end of the week. Lets hope they got that wrong.
Entrants for the Rabbie Burns Pairs can phone 01651 872787 or 01651 872000 or by e-mail to info@lochter.co.uk.
