Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Howard & Stuart

Fortified after the Christmas celebrations there were plenty of eager anglers out at Lochter between Christmas and New Year.

Many of them had a dazed ’cabin fever’ look that could only be assuaged by fresh air and a bit of piscatory pleasure, in surprisingly mild and pleasant weather conditions.

Mike Frost from Aberdeen had a couple of outings netting 13 then 7 fish on lures which included the WSW and hothead damsels.

Bill Gibb had 7 fish while ‘trootin aboot’ using various undisclosed lures while Bill Aitken from Aberdeen had 6 fish using a pink cormorant and bungee buzzer.

Peter Young fishing his favourite Muckle Troot loch had 5 fish using a host of coloured damsels and Ronnie Ewen had 5 fish on a mixture of lures.

Bill Wood had a day to remember when hooked and landed a splendid 14lb beauty, which was returned to fight another day.

The first competition of the New Year will take place on Sunday 29th January, when the annual and very popular Rabbie Burns Pairs will be competed for.

As per previous years the competition will start at 9.30am and finish at 2pm when there will be the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties lunch then prize giving.

The entry fee is £20 per person and to book your entry call Stuart on 01651 872787.

Lochter wishes all our valued customers tight lines for 2017.
