Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Although the past week has seen low temperatures with fairly severe overnight frosts the water has remained clear of ice and has presented good fishing conditions. I t has been notable that the feeding fish are now lying deeper although there has still been good activity to buzzer presentations. A slower retrieve has been the better option. The best catches this week fell to; P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 29 fish, (buzzers), G Linklater, Peterhead, 14 fish, (IPM, Minkie), R Ewen, Macduff, 11 fish, (cormorant), A Murray, Gardenstown, 10 fish, (black fritz), J West, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (damsel), K Fraser, Greeness, 7 fish, (black lure), C Stephen, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (yellow Wotsit), N Gordon, Newmachar, 6 fish, (minkie). Of the above catches, N Gordon landed a nice 9lb specimen with J West close behind with a fish of 8lb. The weather for the coming week is for generally seasonal temperatures by day and night with only light winds which should lead to good conditions for fishing. Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am and visitors are welcome. Booking is not necessary and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For up to date conditions and information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
