Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has seen a drop in air and water temperature with a resulting increase in fish feeding activity. With the demise of insect activity and the seasonal drop in natural feed products, the fish are certainly chasing alternatives as, sensing the start of winter, they naturally attempt to feed up their body weight. The increased activity proved difficult to monitor as at times the fish were feeding deep and then moving neared the surface as the temperatures rose with sunlight. The best end tackle proved again to be a variety of lures and buzzers with the best catches being recorded to; N Thomson, Turriff, 12 fish, (buzzers), B Cresswell, Macduff, 11 fish, (viva), A Murray, Gardenstown, 10 fish, (black fritz), S Buchan, Turriff, 8 fish, (buzzers), J Skakle, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (damsel), J Watt, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (damsel), M Stewart, Methlick, 7 fish, (orange/pink lures).

The weather for the coming week is forecast as variable but low temperatures will prevail. Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am and visitors are welcome. Booking is not necessary and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For up to date conditions and information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
