Lochter Report - Anglers Enjoy Autumn Tints
« on: 01/11/2016 at 10:47 »
The extended summer which we have experienced has resulted in more growth on plants and trees. These in turn are now showing their true Autumn colours as the days shorten and the temperatures fall. There has been an exceptional show of reds, yellows and bronzes at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum. Surrounded by its mixed woods it has provided a breathtaking backdrop for anglers to enjoy and brighten up their visits if the fishing went quiet.

Bill Gibb did not have much time to admire the view as twenty seven fish came to his net, tempted by a variety of flies including Dries, Black Spiders and Blood Worms. David Murray from Insch was also kept busy with eleven trout on Sedges, Hoppers and Damsels. Neil Simmers had a dozen using various Lures and Lenny Davidson used his favourite Cats Whisker to tempt six nice fish with his best at 4 lbs plus.

There were plenty of bags of five and six with Buzzers continuing to score along with Damsels and Dancers. The trout have been slower to switch on to the small fry, Minnows and Stickle Backs, but the recent marked drop in temperatures should see them do just that, which is good news for anglers.
