Hello from Norfolk

Hello all,
As a new member I thought I'd say hello.
I live in Norwich and mostly fly fish for coarse fish.
I'm a huge fibreglass fly rod fan ... Messrs Barrio & Nelson are partly (mostly) to blame.
Having watched Carl McNeil's fly casting vids, and chatting with him via Twitter, when he started his Epic glass blank venture I stupidy expressed an interest. He put me in touch with Mike B and I ended up with a delicious Epic 580 built by Sandy Nelson ... s/n 001. I believe it was the first "commercially" produced Epic rod in the UK (excepting a prototype/test one).
Since then I now have Epics in models 476, 686, 990 and Bandit.
I also have an Epic DH11 which I built a few months ago but that's to be sold.
I've read posts on this forum since buying that first Epic and many fly lines from Mike.
Today I thought it was time I registered and joined in.
Hopefully you'll welcome a mad, southern softy coarse fly angler.
Kind regards to all here,.
JN, Norwich, UK

Hi Jon ......... Welcome to the forum :z16

I'm really pleased that you have enjoyed the Epics and of course the lines!

Looking forward to seeing some photos of these coarse fish, I must confess that I don't know much about them and I'm guessing that Norwich would be a great area to fish for them. My only experience being a couple of boating holidays on the Broads.

Best wishes
Mike

I too fly fish around Norfolk and Suffolk when down visiting my parents house.  So far I have had Pike, Perch, Rudd (big ones at that) and carp.

Next challenge, a Tench :)

I love Rudd on really light tackle; built a Kabuto 7033 just for them 😃

Here's a bit of Norfolk/Suffolk border fishing from last year (this year has been dreadful).
My Epic 686 "Rusty" casting a Barrio SLX #6 with a Chernobyl Ant on the end.

Thanks all.
I had an original series Star Trek mustard  Cpt. Kirk shirt when I was 5 yrs old. Was inseperable from it.
Anyhew, no, that's a rather garish Helly Hansen layer I got cheap somewhere.

Hi from Suffolk (Bury St Edmunds) from new member. I am a freshwater fisherman and spend most of my time on East Anglian chalkstreams - the Little Ouse, the Lark and the Wensum. Mostly fly fishing for whatever comes along (I'm talking to you Mr Chub), but love bait fishing for tench although I have had a few on fly. Must try the Waveney Mr Ninham, and seem to be treading in your footsteps as I have just asked Sandy to build me an Epic 850.
