Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 3/9/16
« on: September 04, 2016, 14:34:29 PM »
The weather this past week has been quite settled and conducive to good angling although interspersed with periods of bright sunshine which made the fish shy to come to the lure. Most catches this week came from the upper 2-3 feet of water with Diawl Bach, Spiders and Buzzers dominating. Dry fly activity was also quite good with CDC, Hoppers and Daddies the main catcher. The only drawback this week has been the lethargic attitude of the fish who, while cruising around in numbers, appear reluctant to attack any presentation. A drop in temperature and diminishing natural feed should reinstate their aggression. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 17 fish, (diawl bach), D McKay, Inverness, 11 fish, (black buzzer), A Murray, Gardenstown, 10 fish, (budgie, white fritz), J Findlay, Aberdeen, 6 fish, (CDC, dry fly), N Thomson, Turriff, 6 fish, (pink buzzer), K Fraser, Greeness, 5 fish, (black lure), J Skakle, Fraserburgh, 5 fish, (brown buzzer).

The forecast for the coming week suggest rising temperatures and settled conditions. Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am and visitors are always welcome. Booking is not necessary and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For up to date information and conditions phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
