The past week has seen reasonable fishing conditions although the weather has been far from seasonable for holidaymakers. The wind has now veered away from the north and reduced to a westerly breeze with temperatures rising but by no means too high. Fishing has been sporadic with active feeding periods interrupted by times when the fish appeared lethargic and not interested in any presentations. Throughout the past week we have seen the predominance of smaller presentations with Crunchers, Diawl Bach and Spiders proving successful and the buzzer also enjoying a resurgence. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 57 fish, (diawl bach, crunchers), A Murray, Gardenstown, 38 fish over several visits, (black/white fritz), J Zacha, St Fergus, 11 fish, (dry flies), S Zacha, Australia, 9 fish, (buzzers, dry, diawl bach), M Smith, Huntly, 8 fish, (squirmy wormy), D Bain, Glasgow, 8 fish, (slipman's buzzer), P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (spider), J West, Fraserburgh, 6 fish, (pink blob, orange blob), G Ward, Banff, 6 fish, (black spider).
