i have for have fished still water a few times but have had my first invite on the may fly chalk streams tomorrow.

What should I have in my vest?

It was a bit of an open ended question ..... and most of us up here haven't got much Chalk Stream experience I'm afraid.

I would hope Nicholas that you have the chance for a guide whilst you are there possibly and therefore could ask them, or the permit provider? I would suggest though that the normal rules apply for river fishing for trout be that chalk stream than peat burn. Flies choice will be locally dependant so find out from locals or river reports. 
Only other thing you may need is earplugs if you are near annoying sasanachs battering on about Euro footie exit.  :wink :X2
