Lochter Report - Spring is here??
« on: 07/03/2016 at 15:55 »
According to the Met Office, Spring officially started on Tuesday 1st March just about the same time as the temperatures plummeted and the snow showers started. The good news is by Thursday of this week the mercury will rise and by Friday it will be almost balmy.

This will certainly be good news for the anglers at Lochter Fishery, Oldmeldrum who’s entries in the catch record say it all ‘baltic’ ‘freezing’ ‘snow stopped play’ etc.

In spite of the conditions there was some good fishing & reasonable bags achieved. Rod Palmer had ten on a white HG Nymph & Black Buzzers. The Blobby Boys Dougie Mair & Bill Ferrries had nine 7 eight respectively, not on blobs but on UV Nymphs. Ryan Reid maintained his catch rate with twelve attracted by his Semtex Mini Lures and P.T.N’s. Matthew Reilly from Ellon also had a productive day with eight fish on black nymphs.

Most anglers did okay but a bit of heat would encourage buzzer hatches and bring the water to life so roll on spring!
