Lochter Report - None but the Brave
« on: 14/12/2015 at 13:15 »
The ‘weather conditions’ column of the catch record at Lochter Fishery in Oldmeldrum for the past week makes interesting reading. Varying from ‘cold’ to ‘could’ to ‘BRRRR’ to ‘bitter’, the comments from anglers told it all, it really was a week to ‘bide at hame’.

Some however need their fishing fix and well wrapped up against the elements decided to venture forth (they may of course have been avoiding going Christmas shopping with the good lady wife!).

Fishing was never going to be easy but with hot drinks handy in the cosy bothy it was worth a cast.

Bill Bain stuck with his favourite cats lures and tempted seven the same number as Harry Hughes who used a mix of cormorants and diawl bachs.

Bryan Ross used an interesting shrimp fly to tempt five and Ryan Reid had five good fish using semtex mini lures and dial bachs. Ewen Milne stuck with the ever reliable WSW and six trout agreed with his choice of fly.

At the time of writing the temperature is hovering around four degrees and it is completely calm, quite nice fishing weather.

Over the festive season the fishery will be closed only on 25th and 26th December and 1st and 2nd January.
