Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The weather during the past week has been far from conducive to good fishing with a fresh north/north easterly wind during the first half of the week followed by an even fresher westerly during the second half. Temperatures have also remained lower than average with the combination of these factors driving the fish deeper as can be seen from the fact that the most successful end tackle has been lures of various types and colours. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 29 fish, (green fritz), B Thomson, Aberdeen, 20 fish, (blob), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 11 fish, (orange blob), J Adie, Inverurie, 10 fish, (Millenium Bug), L Davidson, Macduff, 6 fish, (various lures), B Furey, Peterhead, 6 fish, (olive cat's whisker), G Dyer, Turriff, 6 fish, (mini cat's whisker, hot head),  A Hume, Aberdeen, 6 fish, (cat's whisker), C Robertson, Aberdeen, 5 fish, (black CDC), J Gough, Fraserburgh, 5 fish, (dry fly), C Robertson, Aberdeen, 5 fish, (deerhair, cat's whisker),  B Lawrie, Aberdeen, 5 fish, (budgie).
Congratulations to Bridge of Don Country Club whose members grassed 47 fish on the Saturday outing.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til 7pm and booking is not necessary. Visitors and novices are welcome and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.  Next week's weather is forecast to be quite wet with lighter winds.
