Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The weather during the past week has been rather more settled with temperatures nearer to seasonal normal and winds easing. However, the fishing was still difficult with the fish reluctant to take vigorously and were to be contacted at different levels depending on light and temperature. The week has seen lures, in all configurations, being the preferred catching option although small nymphs and buzzers still recorded some success. Dry flies still enjoyed success in intermittent periods but switched off readily.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 30 fish, (white fritz, red/olive fritz), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 29 fish, (orange blob, diawl bach), F McAlley, Dyce, 12 fish, (green fritz), B Adams, Fraserburgh, 9 fish (various lures, wet flies), L Davidson, Macduff, 7 fish, (green, black cats's whisker), L Adams, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (various lures), K Fraser, Greeness, 7 fish, (red lure), J West, Fraserburgh, 6 fish, (black nomad), R Gibb, King Edward, 6 fish, (blobs, buzzers).
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til 8pm as long as light permits. Closing times will be adjusted as the nights draw in. The fishery is open to visitors and novices and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. The weather for the coming week appears to be more settled with temperatures remaining reasonable. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
