Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 25/7/15
« on: July 26, 2015, 16:53:53 PM »
The past week has seen better conditions than were endured for the past three months with temperatures slightly up and winds easing. The fish have been active in the top two/three feet of the water column and the best angling has been achieved by the use of the dry fly on small diawl bachs, spiders and buzzers. Bright sunshine has been quite restricted and the best fishing was enjoyed during the forenoon and evenings with a lull in activities in the early afternoons. For the time of the year the fish have vbeen really hard fighting and good sport was enjoyed by many anglers. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 15 fish, (white nomad, black/green fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 12 fish, (buzzers), N Garden, Newmachar, 12 fish, (diawl bach), M Rawding, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (CDC, cat;s whisker), J West, Fraserburgh, 11 fish, (diawl bach, buzzers), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (blob, white fritz), G Ellington, Ellon, 8 fish, (green fritz), K Armstrong, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (diawl bach), A West, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (orange nymph), D Bund, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (cat's whisker).
P Crawford, Fraserburgh, J Gough, Fraserburgh and H Watt, Banchory all managed to land fish for their outing.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open 7 days from 8am til 9pm with a last starting time of 7pm. Hopefully the dry fly activity will continue and closing times will be adjusted according to conditions. Visitors and novices are always welcome and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. Booking is not necessary.
