Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 12/7/15
« on: July 12, 2015, 13:13:09 PM »
At last the first week of this year which provided anglers with near perfect conditions barring Wednesday which was windy. The fish also appeared to appreciate some warmer settled weather as was witnessed by the degree of surface activity which led to good dry fly fishing and the numbers of fish which fell to subsurface presentations, namely buzzers and nymphs, lure fishermen still enjoyed good sport especially on intermediate or sinking lines with a moderate retrieve. The best catches of the week fell to; A Caithness from Dunfermline on a six day holiday in Turriff landed a total of 53 fish mostly on dry fly with buzzers and lures backing up his tally. A remarkable haul especially for a junior angler, J Abel, Fraserburgh, 28 fish, (blobs, cat;'s whisker, hummungus), A Murray, Gardenstown, 26 fish, (black/green fritz, white nomad), N Thomson, Turriff, 17 fish, (diawl bach, buzzers), R Reilly, Aberdeen, 14 fish, (diawl bach, nymphs), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 13 fish, (green, white fritz), I Burnett, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (black buzzers), M Reilly, Ellon, 12 fish, (daddies, buzzers), J Gough, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (red buzzers), S McLean, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (olive WSW).
