Thanks for the link , Tarpaulin has always been breathable, after a fashion, the best breathable material used to be Ventile, and probably still is if you can still get it , Blacks use to make their quality Anoraks from it , I had a  Navy foul weather top made from it 
I still have a set of the trousers to match , super stuff,  but Expensive in its day,  easgach 1

Hilltrek will make you anything you wish in Ventile.

I was having a look at those prices Rob, I bought my last  ex navy Ventile anorak for 12 squid, but then I am a tight wad

Was that back when a house cost £50? ;)

Admit they are not cheap, but the quality is top notch...you will be able to pass it on to grand kids :)

Having said that, I went to buy a Tilly Hat on Saturday...nearly had kittens at the cost, so it went back on the hat stand!
