Lochter Report - Blame The Politicians?
« on: 07/04/2015 at 12:02 »
Last week it was too cold, then it was too windy, then a flat calm - "Nae Guid" and now it's too bright!

We can blame the politicians for a lot but hardly for the weather.

Fishers like farmers are a fickle lot when it comes to weather and at Lochter Fishery, Oldmeldrum, the bright sunny weather was too bright for the fish and also necessitated a bit of delaying to avoid angler overheat!

This delaying does in turn to pocket-swap confusion when spare fly boxes, lines, tippets have to be moved from their regular spots to fresh summer pocket.

Having come to terms with the unexpected heatwave and the fact that the trout were well down in the water, anglers did okay.

Dougie Mair, on elf the blobby boys, used a mix of blobs and semtext lures to account for them while Matthew Reilly swapped from buzzers to wsw's and ended his successful day with fourteen. Jim Hay used well sunk buzzers to land six. Paul Gemmell used dial bachs and buzzers to grass eleven, g-gormley top scored with fifteen using mini lures while buzzers were the choice of S. Urwin who kept three and returned nine.

After the success of the Somers sponsored junior/senior day it was great to see loads of young anglers out enjoying the glorious weather catching some troy for the tea and discovering that there is more to life than television and computer games.

Places for the Spring Singles Competition, scheduled for Sunday 19th April, are filling up so anglers are advised to contact the fishery on 01651 872787 or info@lochter.co.uk
